Street maintenance, situation on 14 February 2024

More snowfalls are forecast for February! Based on the weather forecast for the rest of the week, temperatures will vary between minus and plus degrees. Wednesday’s snowfalls are expected to end by the evening. According to the forecast, the next snowfalls will occur on Friday night. However, sleet or rain may fall instead of snow.

Our street maintenance team started working in the early hours of Wednesday morning. They will also do the same on Thursday to get as much work done as possible during the quiet hours.

We will not be able to clear all snow from the streets on Wednesday, and more snow, sleet or rain is forecast for Friday. On Sunday, the temperature will drop below zero. During the weekend, streets will be both slushy and slippery, so we should all be very careful out there.

Due to equipment breakdowns and employee absences, there may be delays in maintenance schedules in Painiitty, the Sello shopping centre area, the Perkkaa/Vermo area, along the Kauklahti bus route and in the Kattilalaakso residential area. The main reason for the shortage of equipment is the fact that some snowploughs broke down on Wednesday night. We are trying to find replacement ploughs and get equipment from nearby areas to ease the situation. At the moment, it seems that we will only be able to clear the main routes in the above-mentioned areas.

Pay attention to parking

One incorrectly parked vehicle can prevent street maintenance work. To make it easier to clear snow from a specific area, we occasionally put up signs that ask people to temporarily move their vehicles elsewhere.

By parking your car correctly, you will make life easier for everyone – local residents, pedestrians, drivers and maintenance workers.

Feedback on maintenance

Our customer service works closely with maintenance staff and informs them about the feedback received. Please note that sending us feedback will not speed up the ploughing of your street. All streets in Espoo are cleared in order, one area at a time, based on their pre-determined maintenance category.

We ask you to send your feedback directly through the city’s online feedback system(external link, opens in a new window). Both our feedback and telephone services are quite busy from time to time, and waiting times may be long.

If you can, also send us a photo of the site in question. Based on the photo, we will be able to assess the urgency of the situation, which will accelerate the processing of your feedback.

Trimble Feedback mobile app

You can also give location-based feedback through the Trimble Feedback mobile application(external link, opens in a new window). It is a quick way to send a message to customer service, for example concerning a need for maintenance. We go through all mobile feedback and forward it to experts who will take the necessary measures.

Keep safe on the streets!
