Green area programme
The City of Espoo is updating its green area programme, which covers the years 2014–2028. The aim of Espoo’s green area programme is to examine the current state of the city’s green areas and to assess the related development needs over the next ten years. When assessing the density of the service network, the city examines the accessibility of the sites and their distance from each other. The results are compared with the population density and age group distribution in the area over a ten-year period. Based on this information, the city can make implementation plans, assess future investment costs, and plan maintenance work. The green area programme currently being updated consists of several sub-projects. All the sub-projects will be submitted to Espoo’s Technical Services Committee for approval. Once the sub-projects have been completed, implementation plans will be made in cooperation with residents.
The green area programme working group has representatives from the following City of Espoo units:
- Public Works Department
- Environment and Building Control Department
- Growth and Learning Sector, Sports and Exercise Services, and Early Childhood Education
- City Planning Department
