Villa Elfvik service offering for families with children
The Nature House is a family destination where children enjoy themselves.
Eating packed lunch on weekdays
On weekdays, you can eat packed picnic lunch in the café room. The Nature House does not use disposable dishes. You can ask the staff to borrow dishes from the house. You can also heat your food here. There are table groups for eating packed lunches in the yard and along the nature trails.
Please remember to sort any waste. The Nature House sorts waste fractions and composts biowaste. Sorting points for biowaste, plastic, glass, metal, cardboard and mixed waste can be found in the café room and the waste collection point located in the upper yard.
Nature trails
Embark on an activity trip in the Nature House surroundings with Väinö the Crow or the Hare in the winter season. You can borrow a basket containing the materials from the Nature House Info. The nature trail can be travelled with prams and pushchairs outside the winter season. The bird-watching tower also has pram and pushchair access. Activity booklets for the Nature Sanctuary trail are available in the exhibition room. Check out the nature trails and the associated materials on the Nature Trails page.
Family trips on Sundays
The Nature House organises nature trips for the whole family carried out on children’s terms. Trips are arranged every Sunday in June-September and occasionally at other times. Some trips are also suitable for prams and pushchairs. Café Elfvik is open on Sundays in the Nature House’s café room, where also soup lunch is served.
Badger’s Forest playground
Badger’s Forest is a playground in the foyer on the second floor. You can dress up as a creature of the forest, play with animal hand puppets or crawl into the badger’s den. There is also a table group for children to draw or read nature-themed children’s fairytale and non-fiction books available on the shelf. Badger’s Forest has a no outdoor shoes policy.
Long Live Espoo exhibition
The exhibition tells about the nature of Espoo with a lot to explore for children. You can feel the soft fur of a fox or feed lake fly larvae to a stuffed toy three-spined stickleback. There are also fun tasks with different themes for schoolchildren. In this exhibition, you can touch, listen and play!
Birthday party at Nature House
Conference Room Uuttu can be rented to cater for children’s birthday parties during the opening of the Nature House. You can order a party programme organised outdoors in the surrounding nature from our partners.
Child care facility
There is a toilet facility with a changing table and a potty downstairs in the corridor next to Info.
