Instruction preparing for general upper secondary education for immigrants and foreign-language speakers

Young people with an immigrant background whose language skills and other abilities are not yet sufficient for general upper secondary studies may apply for preparatory general upper secondary education. After preparatory education, the students apply for actual general upper secondary education. The education can be applied for by immigrants and foreign-language-speaking young people and adults: - who have completed basic education or an equivalent syllabus in Finland or abroad or have the equivalent knowledge and skills - who do not have the sufficient linguistic ability to cope with upper secondary studies in Finnish or Swedish - whose primary application preference is general upper secondary school - who have not completed vocational upper secondary education and training or matriculation examination in Finland or equivalent education in another country.
