Museum visits and guided tours for school and early childhood education groups

Come join us and see how people and nature have coexisted in the archipelago! Archipelago Museum Pentala is accessible by scheduled archipelago traffic summer 2026. Behind the links below you can learn more about our activities for schools. Please remember to inform the museum about your visit beforehand!

KULPS excursion days for Espoo schools are arranged also outside scheduled archipelago traffic season. In 2026 KULPS excursion are arranged in the spring 18.5.-28.5. and in the autumn 31.8.-4.9.

The reservation phone number is open Tue–Fri 11.00–16.00 March - May and then following the museum´s opening hours. You can also contact us via email at saaristomuseo@espoo.fi. Please prioritize reservations via phone, as that way we can see the actual situation in our calendar, response time for e-mail is 1 to 3 days.

Guided tours

Archipelago Museum Pentala's excursion day is available for pupils on 5th and 6th grade in Espoo schools as a free annual KULPS visit. The day consists of an active guided tour of the archipelago museum area and a self-directed nature tour of the island.

The Archipelago Museum’s excursion day shows how fishermen and the residents of the villas lived in the 20th century and how man and nature coexisted in the archipelago. The day includes transportation by charter boat from Soukka Marina to Pentala and back, an active guided tour of the Archipelago Museum area, a self-directed nature tour of the island with the teacher and a time for eating packed lunches.

How to sign up

The excursion day is available for pupils on 5th and 6th grade in Espoo schools as a free annual KULPS visit. If a class has already used up its free annual KULPS visit, it is not possible to sign up that year.

Reservation for KULPS excursions for spring and autumn 2026 start on 3.3.2026. The exact date will be announced later. Reservations can be made only by telephone in Pentala Archipelago Museum number +358 43 8252641. The reservation number is open from March to May, Tue–Fri 11–16. For questions and more information you can also contact us via email saaristomuseo@espoo.fi. Answer time to the email is 1–3 working days.

We accommodate for special needs - please tell us of them while booking!

Transportation is paid by the KULPS organization and city of Espoo. The transportation is managed by FRS Finland Oy. In case of the boat operator deeming the weather unsafe, the museum reserves the right to cancel the excursion day on the same morning. The start and end point of the boat transportation is Soukka Marina. The KULPS excursion day to Pentala starts at 9.30 am in Soukka harbour and ends at 2 pm at Soukka.

Dates

KULPS excursions will take place in spring 18.5.-28.5. and in autumn31.8.-4.9.2026. The size for a group is a single school class. One excursion day has room for two classes.

Lunch break

Taking your own lunch with you is recommended! It can be enjoyed either outdoors or in Lilla Villan. The group needs to take care of cleanliness after eating lunch in both nature and indoors. Remember that you are moving in nature reserve: do not leave any rubbish in the nature. Take with you snacks that litter as little as possible! There is a water faucet on close to Lilla Villan. The water is regular Espoo tap water from the continent.
