Espoo’s Public Works Department has started preparing a park plan for Westendinpuisto. The work is related to the Westendinpuisto stormwater report.

The risk of stormwater floods in the Westendinpuisto area has been identified during the investigations carried out in the area. The plan is to improve the current situation by building a sewer that is adequately dimensioned for flooding and extends from Munkkiluodonkuja all the way to the sea. In addition, water pipes and sewers as well as telecommunications cables will be built and lighting will be replaced in the park and street area. The aim is to preserve the old trees in the park area, but some of them will be removed due to construction work. Replacement plants have been proposed.

Residents can comment on the draft plan during a walking tour of the area on 19 October 2023 from 17:00 to 18:00. The tour starts at the Munkkiluodonkuja turning area. Comments can also be sent by email until 2 November 2023. The draft plan will then be reviewed based on the feedback received and finalised into plan documents.

Construction work is expected to start in 2024.
