The City of Espoo’s Public Works Department has started to prepare street and park plans for the section of the Finnoon keskus detailed plan that has entered into force. The planning covers the following streets and parks: Meritie, Ridarinreitti (the stretch between distance markers 0 and 300) and Syvänsalmenmetsä. The Technical Services Committee approved the plans on 13 December 2023.

The Finnoon keskus detailed plan area is located in the Kaitaa district in Espoo. The section of the Finnoon keskus detailed plan that includes Meritie, Meritienaukio, the western part of Ridarinreitti and Syvänsalmenmetsä entered into force on 12 April 2023. Meritie will replace the old Hylkeenpyytäjäntie. Its elevation has been defined in the Finnoon keskus detailed plan and is significantly above the current ground level. Meritie will offer an accessible route to the Finnoo metro station via Meritienaukio. The new buildings on the western side of the street will also be accessible from Meritie. A covered park-and-ride area for bicycles will be built under Meritienaukio, which will be accessible via Ridarinreitti. Ridarinreitti will be built at the current ground level. Ridarinreitti will also offer an accessible route to the metro station. Syvänsalmenmetsä is a small forest area, the majority of which will be preserved. The Djupsundsbäcken stream will be rerouted as defined in the detailed plan. The flood sensitivity of the area will be taken into account in the planning.
