Skateboarding area in Laaksolahti Sports Park
ParksLeppävaaraIn cooperation with the Sports and Exercise Unit, The Public Works Department is planning a new skateboarding area in Laaksolahti Sports Park. The skateboard area will be located on the west side of the athletics field, on the current grass area between the running track, Lähdepurontie and the access route to the halls. The aim is to create a pleasant and safe area for skateboarders of all levels and other people interested in roller sports. The Technical Services Committee approved the plans on 21 May 2025.

The skateboarding area will have a concrete surface with different shapes and be equipped with skateboarding equipment. The area will also include benches, litter bins and lighting. The running track and the skateboarding area will be separated by a high fence, and the existing fence at the side of the access route will be removed. A new pedestrian crossing will be built across Lähdepurontie to ensure safe access to the skateboarding area and the athletics field. The skateboarding area has been planned in cooperation with skateboarding enthusiasts in two workshops at Tuulimäki Skateboard Hall.

After the draft stage, the finalised park plan will be approved and interested parties informed of the decision. The construction of the skateboarding area is estimated to take place in 2026.
