Ratsukatu is an important street connection in the central area of Leppävaara. The arrangements in the street plan will make it more functional and safer in the section between Soittokunnanpolku and Vanha Maantie. In the future, both roadways of the street will have four lanes, and the eastern pedestrian and bicycle way will be widened so that it will have a two-laned bicycle way and a connected pedestrian way. The western pedestrian and bicycle way will be removed. Alongside the new street arrangements, a new railway bridge over Ratsukatu will be built for the Espoo City Rail Link.
Säterinpuistontie between Leppävaarankatu and Turuntie is a new street section that will improve flow of traffic and safety in the Leppävaara area. The street will form a new connection between Turuntie and Leppävaarankatu for vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic. The street will pass under the Helsinki-Turku railway and Rantaradanbaana, i.e. the Coastal Railway’s pedestrian and bicycle way, being planned north of the railway. A culvert will be built for Säterinpuistontie at Monikonpuro Brook in accordance with the principles of natural hydraulic engineering.
With the construction of Säterinpuistontie, it will be necessary to modify traffic lanes and pedestrian and bicycle way arrangements of Turuntie. The intersection of Säterinpuistontie and Turuntie will be equipped with traffic lights.
The construction of Rakuunanpuisto and its western V-2, V-3 and VL-1 park areas is related to the construction of Säterinpuistontie, Espoo City Rail Link and the connected Rantaradanbaana. New route connections and Monikonpuro Brook’s new bed will be implemented in Rakuunanpuisto Park’s area preserving, where possible, current tree stand. As regards Monikonpuro Brook’s new bed section and the culvert passing under Rantaradanbaana and Espoo City Rail Link, the principles of natural hydraulic engineering will be observed.
