Riihiniityntie between Jupperintulli and Jupperinkuja

Streets and trafficLeppävaara

The City of Espoo has started preparing a draft street plan for Riihiniityntie between Jupperintulli and Jupperinkuja. Riihiniityntie is one of the main streets in Jupperi and also used by public transport. There is a need for improvement in the street arrangements and drainage. A new combined pedestrian and bicycle path will be planned on the eastern side of Riihiniityntie, while the existing path on the western side will be widened, thus preparing for the separation of the modes of transport. The Technical Services Committee approved the plans on 18 September 2024.

Riihiniityntie is currently experiencing drainage problems, which will be addressed by raising the street level and increasing the number of drainage wells. In 2024, HSY (Helsinki Region Environmental Services) will renovate the water supply and sewer pipes in the area, and the new wells will be connected to these pipes.

The street foundation will be reinforced to prevent it from sinking around the new renovated water supply and sewer pipes.

The street plan draft is available for comment on 4-18 March 2024 in the Otakantaa.fi service(external link, opens in a new window). You can submit comments and questions about the draft on the website.

The street plan proposal, which will be finalized after the draft phase, will be made available for viewing 6.-21.5.2024. When it will be available for viewing, the interested parties will be notified separately by letter. The construction of the street is currently not programmed.
