Project description
The old water supply line (water pipes, stormwater pipes and wastewater pipes) of Tuurinlaaksonpolku in Suurpelto, next to the stream Henttaanpuro, will be replaced. The reason for this is the ground displacement from Tuurinmäki towards Henttaanpuro that damaged the structures.
The construction project includes the reconstruction of the water supply line in the Tuurinlaakso park walkway area. The water supply line was damaged by the ground displacement from Tuurinmäki to Henttaanpuro. The ground displacement also caused the Henttaanpuro stream bed to rise in places.
The work to be performed on the site includes digging with excavators, piling sheet piles and installing on top of them a pile slab on which a new water supply line will be installed. In addition, landmass will be moved as needed and lampposts will be removed from the site for the duration of the work. The lampposts will be reinstalled once other work has been completed. The Henttaanpuro stream bed will be shaped according to plans.
The aim is to preserve the area’s vegetation as it is before the start of the contract. Any vegetation that may be damaged during the work will be replaced in connection with the finishing works.
During the work, pedestrian and bicycle traffic on Tuurinlaaksonpolku will be directed to alternative routes.
Carbon dioxide emissions caused by the work will be reduced by using renewable, fossil-free fuels in earth-moving machines and earth-hauling trucks.
