Relocation of Keilalahdentie road

Streets and trafficTapiola

The City of Espoo has started preparing street plans for Keilalahdentie on the eastern side of block 10094. Due to the plan amendment and construction of a new office building, the position of Keilalahdentie will be moved slightly eastwards. On the new street section, cycling will mainly take place on the carriageway, and part of the pavement will run as an easement on land belonging to the property yet to be built. Water supply and sewerage systems and other underground infrastructure systems will be replaced during the construction of the street.

Project description

The construction project concerns the renovation of Keilalahdentie road and its water supply. The work site is located on Keilalahdentie, at the corner of Ring Road I and Länsiväylä. The carriageway will be renovated and moved closer to the existing parking garage, partly on top of the current pavement and cycle path. In addition, a new stormwater drain will be built for the section of Keilalahdentie parallel to Länsiväylä.

Excavators will be utilising a digital model for excavation, which optimises the depth and width of the excavated area, reducing the amount of excavated land and extracted crushed rock. The purpose of these measures is to shorten the contract period and reduce the inconvenience caused to road users.

The carbon dioxide emissions of the contract will also be reduced by using renewable, fossil-free fuels in the earthworks machines and the earth-hauling trucks.
