Park plan of Hopealehto

ParksTapiola

The Espoo Public Works Department has begun preparing a park plan for the Hopealehto park in Tapiola.

Location

Kimmeltie, Aarnivalkeantie

Phase

Design

The Hopealehto park plan project is aiming to improve the management of the stormwater that still flows through the park to this day from Tapiola, with solutions that are as natural and environmentally friendly as possible. A new stormwater basin will be built in the park by developing the current riverbed that runs through the park. The new stormwater basin will help improve the quality of stormwater management in the area.

In addition, the park’s current park corridor and path connections will be improved. The draft plan presents the plan for 3.5-meter-wide, illuminated, and rock dust-surfaced park paths following the alignment of the current park corridors. The new, slightly wider Hopealehdonpolku park path will run through the park in a south-north direction, serving as a connection between Aarnivalkeantie and Kalevalantie. Benches will be placed along the corridor. The path connection leading from Kimmeltie to Hopealehdonpolku will be improved to a narrower park corridor with a rock dust-surface without lighting.

The draft park plan will be available for commenting in the Otakantaa.fi service from the 8th till the 22nd of June 2026. Comments and questions about the draft can be submitted on the website. Click here to go to otakantaa.fi!(external link, opens in a new window)

After the draft phase, the finalised park plan proposal will be approved and the parties concerned will receive a notice of the decision.

The construction phase of the project will be in 2027 at the earliest.
