A new day care center and construction in Kivikaira
Local detailed plansTapiolaA new residential area is being planned in Kivimies, Otaniemi. The project also involves developing the construction of workplaces and services in the area. The City’s aim is to link Otaniemi and Keilaniemi in the urban structure. The plan was initiated in spring 2019 as part of the 220209 Kivimies plan. City Planning Committee has approved the plan proposal to City Board 4.6.2025.

- 12.5.2025 The Tapiola region residents’ evening discussed the urban environment – The recurring event was held this time in Niittykumpu
- 28.11.2024 A regional residents’ event brought together residents and planners to discuss the development of the Tapiola area.
- Tapiola district resident evening on 5.9. 2023 and 30.5.2024 both provided an opportunity to discuss the plan with the planners. Read the event news article.
Additional information
The aim is to build approximately 90,000 square metres of new floorspace. This will provide homes for roughly 2,000 new residents and facilitate the creation of new jobs. The new construction will match the existing environment, and the area’s culturohistorical and natural values will be factored in during the planning. The existing buildings will be preserved, where possible. The participation and assessment scheme of the plan was displayed as part of the amendment of the 220209 Kivimies local detailed plan. Since the display of the participation and assessment scheme, the area has been separated into its own plan.
