Demolition and landscaping of Latokaskenpuisto playground

During the preparation of the decision, we received a lot of feedback in favor of keeping the playground. However, the surveys produced did not reveal any new information that would have changed the previously made decision to remove the playground. The playground will be removed as part of the implementation of the playground program, which aims to maintain a safe and functional playground network. The playground equipment will be removed without separate notice as maintenance detects deficiencies in them. We thank the residents for their active feedback and understanding.

The demolition is based on the city’s playground programme, which aims to concentrate the area’s playground activities in the nearby Latokaski residents’ park, where a wider range of play equipment is available. After the playground has been demolished, the area will be landscaped into a small park for relaxation. The old park benches that are still in good condition will remain in place, and the park lighting will be replaced. The layout of the park paths will be improved and new vegetation will be added – including flowering trees and shrubs.
