Project description

The contract involves the completion of the entrance tunnel and ramp. The concrete structures of the ramp and entrance tunnel were built in a previous contract.

The tunnel provides access to two parking facilities: the underground Finnoonluola, located southeast of the intersection of Finnoonsilta and Suomenlahdentie (the parking facility will be built later), and the parking facility to be built in block 31125, west of Finnoonsilta. 

The ramp structure is located in the street area of Finnoonsilta in the middle area of the street. The intersection of Finnoonsilta and Suomenlahdentie is located on top of the tunnel section. The ramp opens to the north to Finnoonsilta. The total length of the ramp and tunnel, Finnoonluolansuu, is approximately 169 m. The tunnel section measures approximately 118 m.

Approximately 140 m of water main will be built on Suomenlahdentie, which will be connected to the tunnel’s fire extinguishing system. Surface concrete slabs will be built in the ramp and entrance tunnel. Surface heating piping will be installed in the concrete slabs at the entrance to keep them free of ice and snow. Kerbstones will be installed in the curb lanes. On the ramp, the area between the kerbstone and the wall will be surfaced with granite setts with a natural split finish. The walls and ceiling of the tunnel section will be surfaced. Lighting and other municipal infrastructure will be installed along with traffic signs, a boom and traffic lights. A previously built stormwater pumping station will be equipped with pumps and piping. 

Stone surfacing will be installed on the street sides of the ramp wall. The railing will be fitted with a raised steel section. The work will be completed during this year.
