Construction of Haukitie

The construction project involves rebuilding water management and improving traffic flow in the section between Haukilahdenranta and Haukikuja. Traffic arrangements will be changed at the north end of Haukitie for the duration of the construction. Haukitie will be closed between Haukilahden ranta and Haukikuja as the construction progresses. The crossing of Haukilahdenkatu and Haukitie will be opened for vehicle traffic.

The work will begin with the construction of a waste water pumping station. The new station will be constructed in the park area on the other side of Haukitie from the current station. The excavation for the waste water pumping station will be reinforced with a support wall. The foundation for the pumping station will be a reinforced concrete slab supported with steel pipe piles. Once the pumping station is complete, the construction of a new water line and waste water sewer will begin in the street area between Haukilahdenranta and Haukikuja. The water management excavation must also be reinforced with a support wall roughly 80 metres in length. A stormwater drain will be constructed to dry the street. Protective pipes will be installed for the telecommunication and power cables and district heating line. The construction will extend to the Haukilahdenranta and Haukitie crossing area to the extent required for connecting the street structures. In connection with the construction of public utilities, the structural layers of the roads will be renewed. The old pumping station will be dismantled and the area tidied up.

The north edge of the street will be widened for parking spaces. Street lighting will be updated in the work area. The street will be asphalted, and kerbs will be installed. The roadside areas will be turfed and some lilacs will be planted. The traffic arrangements at the north end of Haukitie will be restored.

The construction will take from spring 2023 to spring 2024. However, Haukitie will be opened for traffic and the north end will be closed for vehicles within 2023. The final asphalting and some finishing tasks will most likely take place in the spring of 2024.

For example, piling and support walling will cause noise in the area.
