Ventilation improved at Matinkylä swimming pool during summer
The performance of the ventilation system at the Matinkylä swimming pool (Tynnyritie 6) was investigated through a smoke test on 14 April 2026. The test showed that the distribution of air in the pool areas did not work as well as it could. Based on these findings, improvements to the air distribution system were carried out during the summer 2026 maintenance break.
During the summer, nozzle diffusers were added and replaced for the lap pool and the teaching pool. The performance of the ventilation system around the multi-purpose pool was also improved by installing a new nozzle duct. In addition, modifications were made to the ventilation ducts serving the teaching pool. The aim was to reduce the cooling of the supply air and thereby reduce water evaporation and lower the relative humidity in the pool area.
Modifications have improved air circulation
The performance of the air distribution system was reassessed through a smoke test on 31 July 2026. Based on the test results, the modifications have improved air circulation in the pool areas. At the multi-purpose pool, no areas with insufficient air circulation were identified on the water surface.
Slow air movement was still observed at the southern end of the lap pool. For this reason, the direction of air distribution may be further fine-tuned during weekly maintenance breaks to achieve stable conditions.
Conditions at Matinkylä swimming pool have been assessed based on feedback
The functioning of the water treatment process, the overall hygiene level, and the indoor air conditions at the Matinkylä swimming pool have been assessed this year based on customer feedback. Espoo Region Environmental Health Services also carried out a planned inspection at the swimming pool in accordance with the Health Protection Act on 14 April 2026. No significant deficiencies were found during the inspection.
