The aim of the NGO Day is to create a framework for cooperation that will enable us to promote the well-being, inclusion and good everyday life of Espoo residents together with non-governmental organisations.

The theme of this year's NGO Day is Strength Through Collaboration. The goal of the event is to increase understanding of NGOs' importance in supporting the well-being of Espoo residents and to provide the participants with opportunities to meet, share experiences and discover new forms of cooperation.

Espoo NGO Day is open to all NGO actors in Espoo, city employees and others interested in cooperation.

While the event is free of charge, advance registration is needed to participate in the stage programme. NGO stands will serve all library customers during the event.

NGOs will get their voices heard

The NGO Day programme consists of inspiring speeches, discussions and encounters. The stage programme will be complemented by NGO stands, where participants can meet organisation representatives until five o’clock.

The keynote speech of the event will be given by solution-oriented coach and long-term developer of NGO cooperation, Lari Karreinen. Karreinen calls attention to the importance of listening and mutual respect in cooperation and wishes to guide the NGO Day audience towards better interaction: how to meet another person without the burdens of the past, be heard and seek the common good?

The other speakers will also seek ways of working together in their contributions. How can we join forces in implementing the city’s Key programme on literacy? How can we make the most out of the NGOs' Lähellä.fi service, and what kind of links can we find between promoting integration and employment in Espoo? The highlights of the event will also include the NGO Achievement of the Year award, which celebrates exemplary NGO activities and successful cooperation in Espoo.

After the speeches the focus will shift to discussions. In the discussion titled Kuuleva Espoo ('Listening Espoo') aimed at NGOs, we will reflect on how collaboration between Espoo and NGOs can be strengthened, enabling it to support the well-being of Espoo residents more efficiently. How can we build practical cooperation and work together to remove barriers to cooperation? Instead of listening to this moderated discussion, you can also take time to explore the stands.

The programme includes several breaks, which will naturally also provide time for discussions. Before going home, we will serve a shared snack at an informal social event and share fresh ideas.
