City of Espoo seeks a café or restaurant operator for Gräsantori in Niittykumpu

The City of Espoo is seeking an operator through an open two-phase application procedure to carry out café or restaurant activities in line with the detailed plan in the Gräsantori square in Niittykumpu. According to the current detailed plan, a restaurant, kiosk or similar pavilion-style building with a maximum floor area of 300 gross square metres may be built on the square at Rälssitilankatu 2.
The new building must be compatible with the architecture of the square and the surrounding buildings and built to the same high standard.
The City of Espoo is currently developing the Gräsantori area. The construction project is expected to be completed in June 2027. The project will provide utility connection points for the site. However, the final connections and cables for the future café or restaurant building must be installed as part of the construction of the building.
The application procedure is open to all operators. Individual operators or consortiums of several operators may apply. When evaluating applications, the city will value experience in planning and implementing similar construction projects.
The application period starts on 31 August 2026 and ends on 30 November 2026 at 12:00. Further information about the site and the application procedure is available on the espoo.fi website.
Based on the applications and, where applicable, interviews, the city will select the projects it considers the strongest and most feasible to proceed to the second phase. The Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of the City Board will decide on the recipient of the site. The option of leasing the site will be proposed to the project.
