Summer affects opening hours of Espoo libraries
Many Espoo libraries have special opening hours during the summer: some local libraries will be closed from June 22 to August 9. Laaksolahti Library will close on June 19, and the library will move to temporary premises during the summer. Library opening hours will return to normal on August 10.
In summer 2026, several Espoo libraries will have opening hours that differ from normal. You can check your library’s opening hours on the Helmet.fi service(external link, opens in a new window).
Summer particularly affects the opening hours of Espoo’s local libraries: Karhusuo, Laajalahti, Otaniemi, Saunalahti, and Suurpelto libraries will be closed from June 22 to August 9, 2026. Reservations delivered to these libraries must be picked up by June 21 at the latest. No new reservations will arrive for pick up after June 12. We recommend changing the pickup location to another library or freeze your reservation for the summer via the Helmet online library. On June 18 (the day before Midsummer Eve), all libraries will close at 6 PM. Libraries will be closed on Midsummer Eve, June 19. Self-service libraries will be open as usual on Midsummer Day, June 20.
Laaksolahti Library will close in its current premises on June 19, after which its services will move to temporary facilities in Laaksolahti House (Ylänkötie 16). Library opening hours will return to normal starting August 10, except for Saunalahti Library, which will be closed from August 10 to August 12, 2026, and Laaksolahti Library.
Library summer opening hours 2026
From June 22 to August 9
- Tapiola Library is closed on Saturdays.
- Karhusuo, Laajalahti, Otaniemi, Saunalahti, and Suurpelto libraries are completely closed.
- Laaksolahti Library will be closed June 19 onwards.
- Haukilahti Library is open only in self-service mode Mon–Sun from 6 AM to 4 PM.
- At Kalajärvi, Kauklahti, Nöykkiö, and Viherlaakso libraries, staff are present Mon, Wed, Fri from 1 PM to 8 PM. The libraries are self-service open Mon, Wed, Fri from 6 AM to 1 PM, and Tue, Thu, and Sat–Sun from 6 AM to 4 PM.

June 18 – Day before Midsummer Eve (Thursday)
- All libraries close at 6 PM.
- Customer service hours from 11 AM to 6 PM in Haukilahti, Kalajärvi, Kauklahti, Laajalahti, Laaksolahti, Nöykkiö, Suurpelto, and Viherlaakso libraries.
June 19 – Midsummer Eve (Friday)
- No customer service in libraries.
- Self-service libraries are closed.
June 20 – Midsummer Day (Saturday)
- No customer service in libraries.
