Open call: Smart bicycle parking solutions for Länsimetro stations

As part of the SOLMU project, new, smart, and secure bicycle parking solutions are being sought for Länsimetro stations. The open call for applications is open until October 31, 2025.
The aim is to develop solutions that make it easier to combine cycling and public transport and provide information on the functionality, user experience and demand for parking solutions. The selected solutions will be piloted in cooperation with Länsimetro Oy during 2026.
After the pilot, Länsimetro Oy and the service provider may continue their cooperation by mutual agreement, and the service may also be extended to other Länsimetro stations.
“The bicycle parking solutions being piloted at metro stations support the goals of sustainable mobility and everyday physical activity throughout the region. When bicycles can be left safely at the station, it is likely that more and more passengers will combine cycling and public transport as part of their travel chain,” says Katja Ojala, Project Manager at the City of Espoo.
The open call is part of the SOLMU project, which promotes sustainable mobility solutions and supports companies in developing new business models, products, and services. The project is being implemented by the City of Espoo, the City of Helsinki (Business Helsinki) and Forum Virium Helsinki Oy. The SOLMU project is co-funded by the European Union.
