The newly appointed Culture and Youth Committee held its first meeting in a spirit of open discussion, focusing on budgets and financial plans. The committee also decided on the recipients of the final batch of cultural event and project grants.

The committee made a proposal concerning the 2026 budget, the 2027–2028 financial plan, and the 2026–2035 investment programme for its own area of responsibility.

The committee authorised the Cultural Director, or a person designated by them, to submit the City of Espoo’s statement to the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding the reform of legislation on basic education in the arts.

The meeting included presentations of the 2025 budget and strategy interim reports for the Cultural Unit and Youth Services, as well as a council initiative to explore the conditions for establishing a Tempo orchestra for children and young people.

The Culture and Youth Committee awarded a total of EUR 12,500 in event and project grants to four recipients.
