Biodiversity loss is one of the greatest crises of our time, and it cannot be halted through individual actions or isolated efforts. For this reason, Nature Forum in Espoo brings cities, researchers, the business world, organisations and decision-makers under the same roof to exchange knowledge, develop solutions and nurture a mindset for a positive future for nature.

A versatile programme that takes you from questions to answers

During the day, we will look for answers to an increasingly important question: what should we do next to halt biodiversity loss and move towards a positive future for nature? The programme features a variety of talks, discussions and case studies highlighting the role of different actors in halting biodiversity loss. In Nature Forum, the objective of nature positivity is more than just words: the programme emphasises practical measures and encouraging examples.

What’s relevant right now? Nature Forum opens in the morning with overviews of the current situation, presented by Kai Mykkänen, Mayor of Espoo, the Ministry of the Environment, and the internationally renowned urban nature researcher Cecil Konijnendijk. Before midday, we will also hear compelling examples from organisations showing how they turn nature-related efforts into a practical part of their activities.

In the afternoon, the participants will take part in parallel sessions of their choice. The parallel sessions give you the chance to focus on what interests you most and share your key competence.

At the end of the day, representatives from different sectors will sum up the results of the parallel sessions, creating a framework for further action. Finally, there will be a review of the current status of the declaration on nature positivity, signed by city leaders at the Urban Nature Forum in Tampere last year.
