Espoo Hobby Path offers over 220 free hobby groups for pupils in grades 3–9 in Espo
Espoo Hobby Path invites children and young people in Espoo to participate in diverse and free recreational activities. In the semester 2025-2026, there are over 220 hobby groups for pupils in grades 3 to 9 in different parts of Espoo. The hobby groups will start on 8 September 2025, and registration for the groups is open.
The hobbies take place at schools, in their vicinity or remotely immediately after the school day. The activities are based on the wishes of children and young people, and the hobby schedule includes, for example, arts, sports and outdoor activities, handicrafts, cooking and digital hobbies. The aim is to offer meaningful recreational activities to everyone.
Everyone is welcome to the hobby groups regardless of their language skills, functional capacity or past hobbies. Participation in the hobbies requires no special equipment, and many groups can be joined in also in the middle of the school year. The activities are organised in Finnish, Swedish and English, and there are also groups for children and young people with special needs. The principles of a safer space are applied in the hobby groups.
Children’s and young people’s wishes at the centre of hobby planning
The goal of the City of Espoo is to give every child and young person the opportunity to participate in guided and inspiring recreational activities. The Hobby Path implements The Finnish Model for Leisure Activities in cooperation with various actors.
-We are happy that registration for the hobbies has started rapidly. Children’s and young people’s wishes have now been better considered in the hobbies offered. Also, many popular groups from last year will continue. This has been enabled by the excellent cooperation with schools, praises Kimmo Sillanmikko, Senior Specialist responsible for Espoo Hobby Path activities.
