Espoo’s residents’ parks will again offer a wide range of summer activities for the whole family. All residents’ parks will be open until Midsummer. The Soukka, Perkkaa, Olari, Suvela and Tapiola residents’ parks will be open all summer. In July, our parks will offer free lunch to under 16-year-olds.

If our residents’ parks are not yet part of your summer traditions, now is the time to check out what they offer! Our parks invite all families with children to enjoy fun summer activities and experiences.

All 16 residents’ parks will be open until Midsummer. The Soukka, Perkkaa, Olari, Suvela and Tapiola residents’ parks will be open all summer. As of 4 August, all parks will be open again as usual.

Fun activities for the whole family: Obstacle courses, chalk drawing, hobbyhorses and crafts

How do you feel about an obstacle course, making magic dough or painting with edible fingerpaints? Or would you like to draw on the asphalt with chalks, ride on a hobbyhorse or learn how to make play dough? You can try all these and many other fun activities at our parks – free of charge!

And of course our parks’ summer activities also include soap bubbles, arts and crafts workshops, and playing ice cream vendors and construction site workers. You can also race on a truck rally track, ride a scooter and fix a toy moped.

If high speed is not your thing, you can enjoy things like bug activities, story times or traditional games. Parents with babies can also meet each other in our parks during the summer.

Our parks definitely offer something for everyone!

The best summer events and outdoor activities at Espoo residents’ parks

Our parks offer plenty of events to choose from. For example, the summer tour of the Children’s Cultural Centre Aurora will once again visit six residents’ parks in June. This year’s show is Säilättäret: Metrilaku-menuetti. The language in the show is Finnish.

Many of our parks will also host lovely summer parties and midsummer celebrations.

The library’s activity bus Välkky will be touring our parks and offer fun summer reading. You may also encounter the city’s Senioripaku, which primarily offers activities for seniors.

We will make the most of the summer weather and organise most of our activities outdoors. We offer various outdoor games, like badminton and mölkky, and other fun activities for children of all ages.

Many of our parks will organise water games for younger children on warm summer days, so you may want to bring a towel and swimsuit for your little ones. Some of our parks will also have a wading pool.

Our parks’ indoor facilities, such as kitchens and toilets, will be available to visitors if necessary. Please note that the indoor facilities will be closed during the park lunch service from 11:45 in July.

Grill your own food in June, free park lunches in July – bring your own bowl and cutlery!

Many families spend all day in the park during the summer, so make sure to bring some snacks with you. On a hot day, you should also have a water bottle, hat and sunscreen with you.

In June, almost all of our parks will offer visitors the opportunity to grill their own food. Check the exact dates on your park’s webpage. Please note that meat products must be pre-cooked so that everyone has time to grill their food.

Grills will not be available in July. Instead, the parks that are open in July will offer a free hot meal to under 16-year-olds from Monday to Friday.

So bring your own bowl and cutlery and enjoy a picnic-style lunch with others. Food will be available to about 150 children at the Soukka, Perkkaa, Olari, Suvela and Tapiola residents’ parks. Our meals do not contain lactose, pork or egg.

The start of the park lunch service will be celebrated with children’s music concerts provided by Espoo’s Cultural Services. Read more about our park lunch service here.

A residents’ park is a fun place to spend a summer day. Everyone is welcome! However, please remember that young children must be accompanied by an adult. Schoolchildren can visit our parks on their own with their guardians’ permission, but guardians are always responsible for their children. Our staff are happy to give advice to visitors whenever necessary.

The parks that are open during the summer are open Monday–Friday 8:00–16:00, but you can play in the yard areas outside these hours.

The summer programme and events vary from park to park. Check your park’s programme on the park webpage. Our parks also post about their activities on social media. You can also give feedback on the summer activities in the residents' parks here.

Come and enjoy the summer in our parks!
