The industrial and warehouse area south of Kauklahti Station will soon have residential buildings similar to those in the city centre, services, parks, and a public transport terminal. The City Council of Espoo approved the Lasihytti local detailed plan at the end of 2023. The plan was announced as final on 26 March 2025.

The development of the Lasihytti area will continue next with the planning of streets and parks. The first area under planning will be the area located south of Espoonjoki and between Hansaportti underpass and Kauklahdenväylä to the north of the river.

The natural values of the area are taken into account in the planning in accordance with the local detailed plan. The banks of the Espoonjoki river will be partly kept in their natural state, and walkways along the riverbank will be directed to new routes and more developed park areas.

The Public Works Department will provide residents and landowners in the area with an opportunity to comment on the plans during the spring of 2025. The aim is to present the plan proposal to the public in autumn 2025. The final decision on planning and funding is made by the Technical Services Committee.
