You can now check the water temperature of Espoo’s winter swimming spots in real time

The eleven winter swimming spots in Espoo can be used freely during the winter swimming season, which ends on 30 May.
The docks in Haukilahti, Kallvik, Kivenlahti, Klobben, Laajalahti, Laurinlahti, Matinkylä and Westend are now equipped with thermometers. The thermometers collect real-time data on the water temperature, so you can check the temperature before you go swimming. You can also check the number of visitors at the Laurinlahti, Matinkylä and Westend swimming spots. See real-time tracking here.(external link, opens in a new window)
“The thermometers at Espoo beaches were procured for the swimmers. The idea is that real-time data about water temperatures benefits swimmers all year round,” says Sports Manager Jari Järvi.
Changing rooms for winter swimming
Dressing rooms at swimming spots maintained by the City of Espoo can be used free of charge with a door code. The door code can be used to access the changing rooms around the clock. A key to dressing rooms maintained by winter swimming clubs is subject to a fee.
A few winter swimming spots also have saunas maintained by private companies. These are subject to a fee. Other winter swimming spots do not have a sauna or showers.
Instructions on how to get the changing room door code and keys, as well as other additional information, can be found on our website on the web pages of individual winter swimming spots.
