The Second Pilot Application Round for the Digitalizing Sports and Physical Activity Project is Now Open
The aim of the project is to enhance residents' opportunities to engage in modern recreational activities and to facilitate the experimentation with digital phenomena.
Since August 2022, the City of Espoo's Sports and Recreation Unit has been coordinating the Digitalizing Sports and Physical Activity project. Named "Modernizing Sport to Foster a New Active Generation," the project is funded by the European Union. Its purpose is to improve residents' opportunities to engage in modern recreational activities and to enable the experimentation with digital phenomena.
The project pilots experiments that combine digitalization with sports and physical activity. These experiments must take place in Espoo and involve the residents of Espoo. A pilot can be proposed by an individual resident, a company, a city organization, or an association. A pilot project is a small-scale initiative that offers the opportunity to try out new activities or new ways of collaborating. The Digitalizing Sports and Physical Activity project serves as a funding source for new innovations and experiments.
Propose a Pilot Project
If you or your team have an idea that combines digitalization and physical activity, propose a pilot project! You can find the pilot application form and more information about the Digitalizing Sports and Physical Activity project here.
You can apply for funding for your pilot project by filling out the application form. Include an estimated budget for the pilot project in Excel format. The maximum funding amount available for a pilot project is €20,000.
In the second application round, there are two funding categories: up to €10,000 and up to €20,000. Apply for funding in the category that matches your requested amount.
The second application round particularly welcomes small and short-term experiments. The pilot does not need to last for months; funding can be requested for even the smallest of initiatives.
The second application round opened on May 29, 2023, at 00:00 and closes on June 12, 2023, at 23:59. Selections will be announced by June 20, 2023, at 16:00.
For any questions related to the project or pilot projects, you can contact Project Manager Kimmo Leinonen (kimmo.leinonen@espoo.fi) or Project Coordinator Oona Koivula (oona.e.koivula@espoo.fi).
