Windows95man in search of the essence of Espoo
This summer is all about Espoo, as Teemu Keisteri, also known as Windows95man, embarks on a search for the essence of Espoo.
Keisteri – born and bred in Espoo – has spoken kindly about his hometown on many occasions. The marketing collaboration between Keisteri and the City of Espoo aims to strengthen Espoo residents’ pride in their hometown, promote Espoo’s image as an interesting and diverse cultural city, support tourism, and increase Espoo’s domestic and international appeal.
“People tend to have stereotypical and narrow perceptions of people who live in Espoo. Through this campaign, we want to broaden these views and show that our city is diverse. A family man from Espoo can come in many forms. Windows95man’s bold and open-minded attitude to life sets a good example and brings joy to people. This collaboration will increase Espoo’s visibility among new audiences,” says Harri Paananen, Director of Economic Development in Espoo.
“Previously, we have worked with Teemu Keisteri in the field of visual arts, and before the Eurovision Song Contest, Tapiola Sinfonietta and Windows95man performed an orchestral arrangement of the song No Rules. With his wide-ranging talents and personality, Keisteri exemplifies the many sides of being an artist in Espoo,” says Cultural Director Susanna Tommila.
“The Espoo-identity lives in me as deep as I live in Espoo. I like the different aspects of the city, both the peaceful nature and the exciting urban hubs. There are expensive cars here, but also a special kind of artistry”, says Keisteri.
The Looking for true Espoo spirit campaign (‘Espoolaisuutta etsimässä’) will be carried out as a series of videos in which Windows95man shows us around his favourite locations in Espoo. The videos will be published on the social media channels of Windows95man and the City of Espoo between June and August.
