Windows95man and Tapiola Sinfonietta present: No rules!
Finland's Eurovision participant Windows95man and Tapiola Sinfonietta have filmed an orchestral arrangement and video of the contest song No rules! The orchestral arrangement was made by composer Pessi Levanto.
No rules! Windows95man feat. Tapiola Sinfonietta video was released on the evening of April 26 on the Eurovision YouTube and Tiktok channels and on Tapiola Sinfonietta’s Facebook page. The channels have a total of 8.5 million subscribers.
“The idea for an orchestral arrangement of the song came up right after Windows95man's win in the preliminary UMK24 competition was confirmed”, says Miina Sivula, the producer of Tapiola Sinfonietta.
"Tapiola Sinfonietta, Windows95man and Henri Piispanen all have strong roots in Espoo and hold the city close to their hearts, and Espoo has already been present in Windows95man's art. Tapiola Sinfonietta is famous not only as one of the best orchestras in Finland, but also for its ability to work in multidisciplinary art projects. This collaboration is only natural in that sense," says Sivula.
Composer Pessi Levanto stepped in as the arranger and conductor for the project that was produced on a very quick schedule. Levanto’s orchestral arrangement has a cinematic, dramatic atmosphere, underlined by the performance.
"During the two-hour recording and filming session, the orchestra performed the song 16 times, which is a really demanding task - especially for the brass players, whose role in the arrangement is not the easiest," Sivula mentions.
The video was filmed last week in Tapiola Sinfonietta's concert hall in Espoo Cultural Centre. Windows95man’s trademark “denim egg” is not seen in the video, but a surprise guest can be spotted.
