The Finnish head office of the consulting and design agency AFRY is being planned for a new site in Leppävaara, Espoo. AFRY Group Finland and Peab Kiinteistökehitys Oy have signed a letter of intent for leasing office premises for the use of AFRY’s head office in Finland.

In April 2024, the Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of Espoo City Board granted Peab a planning reservation for the office project. The reservation area is bordered by Ring I, Majurinpolku and Kersantinpolku. Photo: AFRY

“AFRY is a significant partner for Espoo in the development of the urban environment. We are very pleased with AFRY’s plan to locate its Finnish head office in Leppävaara. Leppävaara is known for its hub of design and consulting offices for the built environment, which will be nicely complemented by AFRY’s planned head office,” says Olli Isotalo, Deputy Mayor for Urban Environment at the City of Espoo.

If the project proceeds as planned, four of the six largest design and consulting offices for the built environment in Finland will be located in Leppävaara. Ramboll Finland Ltd, Sitowise Group Plc and A-insinöörit Oy are already there, and AFRY will make four.

The popularity of Leppävaara as the home of companies is explained, among other things, by its excellent location. Leppävaara is a transport hub that can be easily reached both by train and light rail, and the area is also easily accessible by car or bike. Its transport connections will improve even further with the completion of the City Rail Link in 2028, bringing additional rails between Leppävaara and Kauklahti.

According to AFRY, Leppävaara was selected for the letter of intent stage based on a personnel survey, accessibility review and numerous stakeholder discussions. The company’s goal is for the new office building to be a sustainability flagship.

In April 2024, the Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of Espoo City Board granted Peab a planning reservation for the office project. The project requires an amendment to the detailed plan. The reservation area is bordered by Ring I, Majurinpolku and Kersantinpolku.

If the project proceeds according to the planned schedule, AFRY could move into its Leppävaara head office in the summer of 2028. The company’s current head office in Finland is located in Vantaankoski, Vantaa.
