If you want to continue cycling throughout the year, you can have studded tyres installed on your bike. Promotion of sustainable modes of transport as part of the city's strategy
Promoting sustainable lifestyles, such as cycling, is an important part of Espoo’s strategy. Increasing the share of sustainable mobility will help Espoo achieve its goal of carbon-neutrality by 2030, and the city’s goal is to start reducing transport emissions already during the current council term. Approximately one-third of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions are currently caused by transport. At the moment, more than half of the trips made by Espoo residents are made by sustainable means of transport: by bike, on foot or by public transport. The share of cycling in modes of transport is 9 %.
Bicycle maintenance campaign in collaboration with companies
The City of Espoo wants to promote sustainable lifestyles with the entire Espoo community, and cooperation with companies of various sizes is part of this work. Local bike servicing companies were invited to join the autumn campaign, and some them wanted to participate with offers and benefits. You can view these on the companies’ websites.

This campaign to encourage bike servicing is part of the It’s Like Riding a Bicycle project, which promotes cycling in various ways in Espoo. We encourage residents to cycle and service their bikes regularly. The project has cooperated with bike servicing companies and sought to find ways to promote their operations by means of dialogue and service purchases through competitive tendering. The project has received funding through the Sustainable Cities Climate Impact challenge competition arranged by the European Union’s EIT Digital and EIT Climate–KIC units. The project is funded by the international logistics company FedEx.
