Espoo celebrates its 50th anniversary as a city

This year marks 50 years since Espoo became a city. For this reason, the traditional Espoo Day has been turned into a whole week of festivities. The Espoo Celebrates! week takes place from 22 to 28 August 2022.

The celebration of the 50-year-old city will kick off with the Tapiola Festival(external link, opens in a new window) at the sports park on 19 and 20 August. This weekend’s other events include the Olarin Panimo Block Party in Otaniemi and the pool party for young people at the Leppävaara outdoor swimming pool. Information on other August events is available on the city’s website.

Close your windows to reduce noise

Popular public events require special arrangements, and we ask for everyone’s understanding.

At the Tapiola Festival, performers are allowed to play music until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

A notification of noise must be submitted to the city in advance when organising an event that will cause disturbing noise. Local residents and others in the area, such as nursing homes and educational institutions, must be informed of these events.

Next week, Espoo will also host numerous daytime concerts and other events (Mon–Sat 7:00–20:00 and Sun 12:00–20:00) for which a notification of noise is not required.

The best way to prevent noise-related nuisance is to keep your windows and balcony doors closed.

You can give feedback on Espoo Celebrates! events directly to the organisers. You can also use the City of Espoo feedback system(external link, opens in a new window).
