Over 50-year-old Otaniemi agreement between the city and the state ends

The City of Espoo and Senate Properties as the state’s representative have agreed to terminate the “Otaniemi agreement” that was concluded in 1970. The decision was made in connection with land use negotiations concerning the Otakaari area in Otaniemi.

The Otaniemi agreement has, for example, guided detailed planning, municipal engineering work and street maintenance in the area. The necessity of the agreement was now reassessed, and the parties decided to terminate the over 50-year-old agreement.

The development of Otaniemi will continue. Once the pending plan amendment takes effect, new student housing will be built along Otakaari.
