Jokeri Light Rail was awarded at the Municipal Technology Days
The annual muncipal technology days are in Pori this year. As always the muncipal technology achievement awards -and scholarships were distributed on the first day of the event. The Jokeri light rail’s concept of temporary traffic arrangements was awarded the honorary mention of achievement of municipal technology of the year.
The Jokeri Light Rail line will be built between Itäkeskus in Helsinki and Keilaniemi in Espoo. The project began in 2019 and it will start operating in January 2024. The length of the line is approximately 25 km and it runs along a total of 42 streets, crossing or below the Western and Eastern fairways, with the exception of all exit routes from Helsinki and the Beach and Main lines.
The principles of temporary traffic arrangements were and continue to be an integral part of the project in order to ensure the smooth flow of urban traffic during the construction work. This is a perennial and extensive construction site, so the smooth running of traffic arrangements is significant for the success of the project. The temporary traffic arragement concept essentially includes safety and clarity in both instructions and communication, smooth traffic, efficient work, and maintenance and implementation costs. The honorable mention of the traffic arrangement concept as an achievement in construction projects is a significant accomplishment and a great recognition for those working on the project for their excellent work on the Jokeri Light Rail!
