Maternity and child health clinic services during nurses’ strike
The nurses’ union strike that started on 1 April affects the operations of HUS maternity hospitals. Appointments at the city’s maternity and child health clinics have not been cancelled.
The maternity outpatient clinic, pregnancy-related emergency care services, the labour ward and the maternity ward are considered essential services, but they have fewer staff than usual. Due to the reduced resources, the services provided by these units are limited. If necessary, HUS will refer clients to the City of Espoo’s maternity and child health clinics and health centres in case of non-urgent matters.
HUS aims to discharge families as soon as possible after childbirth.
HUS also has to reduce its appointment services for those giving birth and, therefore, appointments can only be booked for medical reasons.
