Sepon koulu pupils to transfer to Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu comprehensive school next autumn as a result of a school merger

On 3 November 2021, the Growth and Learning Committee decided that as of 1 August 2022, Sepon koulu lower comprehensive school and Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu upper comprehensive school will be merged to form a uniform comprehensive school. The new comprehensive school will be called Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu and it will start its operations in a new school building scheduled to be completed in autumn 2022.

Pupils attending Sepon koulu with a local school decision

Pupils who currently attend Sepon koulu with a local school decision will receive a new local school decision to Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu. They will continue as Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu pupils until the end of their basic education.

Sixth graders do not need to apply to seventh grade, but they will automatically continue in Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu in accordance with their new local school decision until the end of their basic education. Pupils looking to attend weighted-curriculum education starting from seventh grade go through a separate application process, as is the case for all sixth graders. Pupils attending Sepon koulu as secondary applicants

Pupils who currently attend Sepon koulu with a secondary school decision will receive a new secondary school decision to Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu. They will continue as secondary Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu pupils until the end of their basic education.

Sixth grade pupils do not need to apply to seventh grade in Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu if they are going to continue in the school as secondary applicants. If a pupil is not going to continue as a secondary applicant, they need to apply for a place at their local school during the upper comprehensive school application period. Special needs class pupils

The situation of the current special needs classes in Sepon koulu and Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu will be examined in connection with reviewing pupil-specific special support decisions and, if necessary, the special needs classes will continue to operate in the new Pohjois-Tapiolan koulu building as of 1 August.

Weighted-curriculum education

Pohjois-Tapiola koulu will provide weighted-curriculum education with focus on performing arts starting from seventh grade. Pupils looking to attend weighted-curriculum education starting from seventh grade go through a separate application process, as is the case for all sixth graders.
