Seasonal influenza vaccinations will start in Espoo in November. The vaccine is the best way to protect yourself from influenza and possible complications such as pneumonia. It is advisable to get vaccinated every autumn as the vaccine is only effective for about a year and the influenza virus is constantly changing. You will also protect your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Public notice about seasonal influenza vaccinations will be delivered to every home in Espoo on Wed 27 Oct.

Groups entitled to a free influenza vaccination are

  • pregnant women
  • everyone aged 65 and over
  • children aged under 7
  • those belonging to at-risk groups because of an illness or treatment
  • those close to a person susceptible to serious influenza
  • men starting their military service and women starting their voluntary military service
  • Persons who live or stay for long periods in institutional conditions, including prisons and reception centres
  • social, healthcare and medical care personnel
  •

The vaccine is also available free of charge to those close to a person susceptible to serious influenza.

If you do not belong to a risk group but would like to protect yourself against influenza, there are other ways to get vaccinated. For example, many employers offer influenza vaccines to their employees. You can also request a prescription for an influenza vaccine by calling us, tel. +358 9 81634800 (Mon–Fri 8:00–18:00). You will then need to pick up the vaccine from a pharmacy and book a vaccination appointment online or by phone.
