The Regional State Administrative Agency (AVI) has given the City of Espoo a warning for the shortcomings in the accessibility of the booking website and application of Transport Services.

The Act on the Provision of Digital Services obliges the public sector to make sure that their digital services meet the accessibility requirements. In the digital world, accessibility means that it is easy for different people to use digital services and their content.

“We apologise for the fact that the Transport Services booking website and application do not currently meet the accessibility requirements and that for example people with visual impairments are unable to use them with a screen reader. We have already addressed the issues and will oblige the service provider to audit the booking application and website and make the required improvements based on the audit results. Accessibility is very important to many clients of Transport Services, and we take the warning and accessibility very seriously,” says Logistics Director Kari Sirviö.

Western Uusimaa Transport Services is responsible for providing transport services for the elderly and people with disabilities in Espoo. The services are based on the Social Welfare Act and the Act on Disability Services and Assistance. Transport Services has a dispatch operator that is responsible for receiving bookings, planning routes and forwarding bookings to the drivers. The operator is also responsible for customer service. The operator company is FCG Smart Transportation Oy, with which Transport Services has concluded a temporary agreement.
