You can get your second dose of the coronavirus vaccine without booking an appointment at the Iso Omena walk-in vaccination site from Monday 6 September to Friday 10 September. Please note that at least six weeks must have passed since your first vaccination.

The Iso Omena walk-in site is open from Monday to Friday 9:30–11:30 and 12:15–14:00. On Tuesday 7 September, the site will be open 9:30–11:30 and 12:15–19:00. If you decide to get your second vaccine at an accelerated schedule, your previously booked appointment will be cancelled at the vaccination site.

Espoo encourages students to get the coronavirus vaccine before the matriculation examination

The City of Espoo encourages students, especially those getting ready for the matriculation examination, to get the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine this week (6–10 September), as the Iso Omena walk-in vaccination site can be visited without booking an appointment to get the vaccine six weeks after the first dose. We want all students to be able to attend the matriculation examination without the risk of serious coronavirus disease.

According to Markus Paananen, Espoo’s Director of Health Services, the six-week interval currently only applies to a limited batch of Moderna vaccines that are about to expire.

You can get the Moderna vaccine even if your first dose was the Pfizer vaccine. The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has confirmed that the Moderna vaccine can be used for booster vaccinations. These two vaccines are very similar mRNA vaccines.

If you wish to receive the Pfizer vaccine for your second dose, you will have to wait for your vaccination appointment. For those who book an appointment, the second dose is given eight weeks after the first one.
