Matinkylä – an urban transport hub
Matinkylä is a diverse urban centre in southern Espoo, extending all the way to the seashore. It is one of the most visited urban centres in the capital region.
The West Metro has made Matinkylä a significant public transport hub. Integrated into the shopping centre and metro station, the indoor bus terminal serves as a convenient transfer point for passengers travelling to other parts of Espoo. Matinkylä offers a wide range of services and excellent connections to Helsinki city centre and other urban centres in Espoo.
At the moment, Matinkylä has more than 20,000 residents. The number of residents is expected to rise to 25,000 by 2060.
The journey from the Helsinki Central Railway Station to Matinkylä takes 20 minutes by metro. It takes about an hour to reach Helsinki Airport by metro and train and 30 minutes by car. The Tapiola urban centre is located just a 10-minute metro ride away.
