Kivenlahti – a gateway to the metropolitan area

Kivenlahti is a rapidly growing and developing area with good business opportunities.

This seaside suburb located in West Espoo with about 8,000 inhabitants is expected to grow to 25,000 by 2050. The metro connects Kivenlahti to other parts of Espoo and Helsinki.

Kivenlahti has many companies operating in the field of cleantech and recycling. Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) has a Cleantech research center in the area. Two educational institutions, the Laurea University of Applied Sciences and Omnia, the Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo Region, will establish new premises in Kivenlahti.

For the leisure time Kivenlahti has a boat harbour, shops and restaurants. Services in Kivenlahti will improve as the private sports, cultural and event centre called Hybridiarena (hybrid arena) is completed in autumn 2024. The arena will have a variety of sports facilities, a café, a restaurant, catering services and a rooftop terrace with a swimming pool.

Kivenlahti has excellent public transport connections. Kivenlahti is also easily accessed by car. There is a park-and-ride facility in Kivenlahti with parking spaces for 650 cars. Ferry connections to nearby islands are operated during summer for recreational activities.

Distance from Helsinki centre to Kivenlahti is 30 minutes by metro. Helsinki-Vantaa airport is approximately 35 minutes away by car. The closest urban centre of Espoo, Matinkylä, is 9 minutes by metro. Espoon keskus can be reached by bus in 20 minutes.
