Communication Project for Sustainable Transport (2022)

The aim of the Communication Project for Sustainable Transport is to promote sustainable transport and mobility. We will provide information on practices and examples related to sustainable mobility, in line with the city’s strategy. We will also inform Espoo residents and companies of their opportunities to make sustainable choices in their daily lives.

The project has received mobility management funding from the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

According to the city’s strategy known as the Espoo Story, all Espoo residents must have opportunities to make sustainable choices in their daily lives. The project will contribute to Espoo’s goal of being carbon-neutral by 2030 and help the city achieve the goals of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by 2025.

Objectives

The aim of the project is to provide information on sustainable forms of transport and non-fossil fuels in accordance with the Sustainable Espoo programme. We cooperate with the city’s sectors and develop communications together with Espoo residents, companies and partners. The project will also provide information on the impact of one’s own mobility choices on transport emissions. Transport accounts for one third of greenhouse gas emissions in Espoo.

Measures

The Communication Project for Sustainable Transport will produce content related to sustainable transport and mobility, i.e. walking, cycling and public transport, as well as means of transport that use non-fossil fuels, such as electric and gas-powered vehicles. We will also highlight sustainable mobility practices at workplaces in Espoo.

Schedule

The project started on 1 February 2022 and will end on 31 December 2022.
