Fairtrade City Espoo

The City of Espoo has committed to promoting Fairtrade and making ethical choices in its purchases. Espoo was one of the first cities in Finland to be awarded the status of Fairtrade City in 2009.

The status also requires cooperation by local educational institutions, employers, parishes and associations. The engaged operators have committed to using Fairtrade products, thus providing poor farmers in the developing world the chance to earn a living through their work and to offer an education to their children.

Everyone can contribute to a Fair Espoo through small, everyday choices. In addition to making sustainable purchase decisions, you can have an impact at your workplace, school, associations or parish.
