Quick guide to using Wilma

Wilma is the main communication channel between schools and homes. Cooperation between schools and guardians is essential for supporting the learning and wellbeing of children and young people.

Guardians can choose the language in which they use Wilma. The language can be changed later if needed. You can change the language from the cogwheel menu (in the top left corner in the app). The available languages are Finnish, Swedish and English.

Wilma has both a Messages section and a Notices section. Guardians should also subscribe to email notifications about new messages and notices.

Notices:
The administration uses Wilma’s Notices section to publish important notices and news on current matters. Emergency and crisis notices are also published in Wilma’s Notices section. Some notices may be temporary and will be removed automatically. It is important for guardians to check the Notices section regularly. Notices are shown in the language that the guardian has selected for Wilma.

Messages:
Schools communicate primarily through Wilma’s Messages section. Schools generally publish messages in the language of instruction. The messages may concern current matters within the school community that affect pupils’ school day, or matters for which guardians’ participation or attendance is encouraged or expected. Through Wilma, guardians can also easily keep up to date with their child’s schoolwork, absences and assessments.

Depending on the school, you can contact the school secretary, the teachers of language and cultural groups, or the pupil’s own teacher for advice. Hello Espoo Info also offers advice. Interpreters are available at Hello Espoo Info if needed. Our schools ask families to send Wilma-related questions via email or Wilma message.

Wilma can be accessed via the mobile app or a web browser. Some features, such as forms, are not available in the app.
