School and early childhood education premises for rent
Premises available for rent for resident and recreational activities.
All residents’ parks in Espoo and some day care centre and school premises can be rented for resident and recreational activities when they are not being used by the city.
Day care centres are primarily rented out for children’s recreational activities and collaborative activities organised by early childhood education units. Residents’ parks are also rented out for private events.
School classrooms, auditoriums, dining halls and entrance halls are mainly rented out for recurring hobby activities and collaborative events organised by schools. Facilities are not intended for political or religious activities, private events or parties.
Supervised school premises can also be rented for one-off meetings. However, schools do not offer catering or other conference services.

General principles for the shared use of facilities
The key objective of making premises available for use is to promote residents’ recreational activities and social participation.
The terms of use of supervised premises describe the user’s responsibilities and include concrete instructions for the use of supervised school premises. When applying for a supervised time slot through the resource booking system, the user of the premises agrees to follow the terms of use.
The terms of use of self-supervised premises are included in the self-supervision commitment, and they define the user’s additional responsibilities, for example in terms of cleaning and supervision. The document also contains concrete instructions for the self-supervised use of school premises. By signing the document, the user agrees to follow the terms of self-supervised use of school premises.

Invoicing
The fees for both recurring and one-off time slots are invoiced in arrears, 4–5 times per school year. If the amount owed is less than EUR 10, it will be invoiced during the next invoicing period.
Invoices are sent to the person or community who booked the premises. Please make sure that your client information is up to date when making a booking.
If you have any questions about invoices, please contact koulutilavaraukset@espoo.fi.
You can apply for a time slot in school premises through the resource booking system(external link).
The season during which the premises are available for shared use is determined every school year. Further information: Availability of school premises for shared use during the school year.
You can find the premises and time slots available in each school through the calendar in the resource booking system. If you cannot find a school in the booking calendar, the school does not offer time slots. You can also find the form of supervision in the booking system, next to the name of each school.
You can search for available premises and time slots in the booking calendar without logging in. However, if you want to book a time slot, you will need to log in using your online banking codes or mobile ID.
If you want to cancel your time slot, you must do so no later than 14 days before the event by sending an email to the customer service for the use of school premises: koulutilavaraukset@espoo.fi
The city has the right to cancel a time slot it has already granted at two weeks’ notice if the school needs the premises for its own use (for example, a school celebration or parents’ evening):
- The school must notify the client of the cancellation no later than 14 days before the date of the cancelled time slot: koulutilavaraukset@espoo.fi
- Customer service will send an email to the person in charge of the booking to notify them of the cancellation.
You can find the instructions for using the resource booking system below.

Recurring time slots
Recurring time slots for recreational activities are applied for during an annual application period that takes place in March and April. The time slots granted can be seen in the booking system.
Recurring time slots are available at all supervised schools and at some of the schools with self-supervision.
The time slots that remain available after the official application period can be applied for through the booking system throughout the season. Applications are processed on a first come, first served basis within a period of 14 days.
One-off time slots
One-off time slots that have not been booked for recreational activities can be used for other purposes (e.g. for housing company meetings). You can apply for these time slots through the resource booking system. Applications are processed on a first come, first served basis within a period of 14 days.
One-off time slots are only available at supervised schools, not at self-supervised schools for security and resource reasons.
Collaborative events that are related to the activities of the Growth and Learning Sector or a school can also be organised at self-supervised schools with the principal’s consent.
Client status
If you wish to book a time slot as a private person, select the option of using the system as a private person when logging in. Please note that in this case, you will be personally responsible for paying the fees.
If you wish to book a time slot on behalf of a community, select this option when logging in. You will see the details of the communities you represent on the login page. If necessary, you can also create a new community in the system. If the system says that the community you tried to create already exists, please send an email to koulutilavaraukset@espoo.fi. You will then be added to that community’s account as a representative. Below you can find instructions on how to create a new client community in the system.
The person who books a time slot and the person in charge of the use of the time slot must be 18 or older.
Please read carefully through the checklist for the person in charge and make sure that the instructions are followed during your time slot.

Time slots for Espoo’s indoor and outdoor sports facilities, such as school gymnasiums and fields, are booked through the resource booking system. Read more about the reservation of sports facilities.
For more information on the use of school yards, please contact the customer service for the use of school premises: koulutilavaraukset@espoo.fi.
Use of early childhood education premises
Espoo city resident parks can be rented by the residents. The organizer of a private event is responsible for ensuring that the event complies with safety guidelines and that the premises are cleaned after the event. For time being daycare units are not available for renting for resource reasons.
You can find more coronavirus-related information on the website of the City of Espoo.
General principles for the shared use of premises
The key objective of making premises available for use is to promote residents’ recreational activities and social participation.
The consumption of intoxicants is absolutely forbidden on early childhood education premises. Additionally, candles may not be burned, and no animals are allowed on the premises.
The use of the premises requires filling in an agreement/application form and a self-supervision commitment and committing to supervision and clean-up obligations. To book premises, please contact the early childhood education unit in question. The units also take care of their own invoicing.
The residents’ park or day care centre in question will provide you with the necessary forms and additional information.

Fees
The City of Espoo charges a fee for the use of premises according to the current price list. The amount depends on the user’s possible right to use the premises free of charge or for a reduced fee.
More information on fees
The normal fee is EUR 15 per hour. The reduced fee is EUR 7.50 per hour. The minimum duration of a one-off time slot is always 3 hours, i.e. a fee of at least 3 x EUR 15 is charged. Additional hours are charged per hour. For example, the fee for a 4-hour time slot is calculated as follows: the minimum time slot of 3 hours + 1 additional hour = EUR 45 + EUR 15 = EUR 60.
For recurring time slots booked for the whole season, EUR 15 is charged per hour or part thereof, i.e. the minimum fee is 1 x EUR 15.
