Are you familiar with the Growth Strategy for the Creative Economy 2025–2030? Published in June 2025, the growth strategy is a plan developed by the Finnish Government aimed at promoting the growth and internationalisation of creative industries.

The strategy emphasises that growth starts with creative economy companies and the strategy will help accelerate their expansion and internationalisation. The strategy was created under the coordination of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the Ministry of Education and Culture

The strategy focuses on six priority areas:

1. Competence and foresight – developing education and competence in creative industries.

2. Ecosystem cooperation – strengthening networks and cooperation between different sectors.

3. Business advisory services – developing support services for creative industry companies.

4. Funding paths – promoting new funding models and investments.

5. Country branding, export promotion and marketing – improving the international visibility of Finland’s creative economy.

6. Regulation – developing legislation to support the growth of creative industries.

Creative industries have great potential for economic growth

The strategy especially supports scalable content (such as games, literature, music and the audiovisual sector), creative services (for example, architecture, design, fashion and marketing), and the events sector (e.g. art and cultural services). A crucial starting point in the strategy is establishing a shared understanding of what the creative industries entail. The strategy finally recognises the significant potential of creative industries for Finland’s overall economic growth and exports. Great news!

Why do creative industries matter to Finland’s economy? Almost every business sector needs creative expertise to succeed. Creative skills are essential when companies develop prototypes, design new packaging solutions and create communications. Most products and services are created through collaboration within networks where the contribution of the creative industries is key. This directly increases demand for creative industry companies. The strategy also highlights the need to further develop business advisory services for the creative economy.
