Announcement: Enrolment in pre-primary and basic education for the school year 2025–2026 starts on 8 January 2025
Enrolment period for pre-primary education is 8–20 January 2025
Guardians must enrol their children born in 2019 in pre-primary education between 8 and 20 January 2025. Enrolment for the school year 2025–2026 is done by filling in an electronic form at espoonvarhaiskasvatus.fi(external link, opens in a new window).
Pre-primary education for children born in 2019 starts in Espoo on 7 August 2025. Pre-primary education is provided in day care centres and schools Monday–Friday from 9:00 to 13:00.

Enrolment period for 1st grade of basic education is 8–20 January 2025
Guardians must enrol children born in 2018 in 1st grade online through Wilma at espoo.inschool.fiby 20 January 2025. Children who were supposed to start school in 2024 but received permission to start school a year later must also be enrolled in 1st grade.
A letter regarding the start of compulsory education, a key code for creating a personal Wilma account, and a starting school guide have been sent to all guardians of new 1st-graders.

Assigning a local school for new 7th-graders for the school year 2025–2026 in Swedish-speaking schools
In Swedish-speaking schools, 6th-graders will be assigned a place in a local lower secondary school (grades 7–9) no later than 14 February 2025. The decision will be published in Wilma.
