Exploring Knowledge Through Objects: DP1 TOK Exhibition 2025
The DP1 Theory of Knowledge (TOK) exhibition, the internal assessment for TOK in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, provided a thought-provoking glimpse into how knowledge manifests in the real world. The event brought together a diverse range of personal objects, artifacts, and carefully selected prompts, showcasing the creativity, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity of our DP1 students.
Each student selected three objects and linked them to one of the prescribed TOK prompts, exploring how knowledge is constructed, shared, and shaped by context. The exhibition encouraged students to reflect on real-world issues, question assumptions, and consider multiple perspectives—skills central to the IB's core values.
From cultural symbols to scientific tools, photographs to literary works, the variety of objects displayed demonstrated how personal experiences and societal influences interact to shape understanding. The variety of objects represented the rich cultural diversity within our school community. The exhibition was organised as a dialogue between the DP1s, pre-DP students, and teachers. Visitors engaged with students about their choices and reasoning, sparking interesting discussions.
We are looking forward to continuing our TOK journey through the Areas of Knowledge and the TOK Essay during the months to come!
